Takayuki Sumi

Chief Executive Officer

Takayuki (Taka) Sumi joined Tokio Marine in 1989 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Tokio Millennium Re (UK) Ltd. in August 2011.  He has held various management roles, both at Head Office and with Group companies, underwriting a broad range of insurance and reinsurance business. 

In 2004, Taka was appointed Director and Senior Underwriting Officer for Tokio Millennium Re Ltd. in Bermuda.  In 2007, he returned to Head Office to assume responsibility for ceded reinsurance of property and casualty lines, while also developing risk/retention policy in line with the Group-wide ERM framework.  Since 2004, he has been responsible for Tokio Marine's catastrophe swap portfolio, which he continues to manage today.

Taka earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Tokyo.  He also has an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
