Akira Higuma

Chief Risk Officer

Akira Higuma is Chief Risk Officer of Tokio Millennium Re Ltd.  He joined Tokio Marine Nichido in April 1991 and was appointed to his current position in January 2011.

Akira’s 20 years of experience as part of the Tokio Marine Group includes underwriting in engineering insurance, outward reinsurance planning and enterprise risk management, and marketing in professional lines insurance.  In 2006, Akira was transferred to Atlanta, GA and appointed Chief Executive Officer of Tokio Marine Technologies LLC, a start up subsidiary providing solutions for Tokio Marine in the area of natural catastrophe risks and enterprise risk management.

Akira received a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Tokyo, Japan in 1991 and an Executive MBA in management of technology from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2010.
